The same happened for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but the animation studios took the brunt of profit losses. So that's the one, I think, Warner Brothers should buy.Disney just endured its biggest box office flop of 2022 with its most recent animated release.ĭisney has certainly had its ups and downs with the box office lately, but new data has shown that one film from the company was the worst box office flop in 2022.ĭespite Marvel Studios taking hits from fans and critics for films like Thor: Love and Thunder, Disney still made a relatively healthy profit. ![]() And Warner Brothers is just managing the same business better than, I think, Paramount is. They reported their stock was down over 20% yesterday. We expect WBD to look at Paramount as an acquisition. I think it's still in the turnaround phase. So we think that's an interesting- but WBD does have a big library. So there's a lot of synergies always between distribution, which is what Apple iPhones are, and in content, which is what Disney is. You could do some of the content of the Walt Disney Company exclusive to Apple for a certain window, three months or something, which would drive Apple iPhone penetrations. And then you would also have two billion active devices in Apple. You'd be adding 100% omnichannel touch points, because you can touch consumers in theme parks, which Apple can't do. ![]() LAURA MARTIN: Apple and Disney, so the great thing is the brand consistency, right, world class brands in both cases. And so then what would be the biggest selling points in terms of the synergies that you already see between Apple and Disney? Apple is a distribution platform, so Apple would really need to buy a successful and healthy film studio to make content, not a broken one. But the Warner Brothers film studio has been sort of on a cold spell for the last five years, and Apple can't help with that. They're going to launch another Superman, so we'll see. But here at Warner Brothers, it's unclear they can actually make like DC comic movies. The issue here is I think we have a broken film content creation engine, where it's not- at Disney the company, it is not broken. LAURA MARTIN: You know, we're arguing that Apple should buy the Walt Disney Company. The demon would have consumed Lanbear entirely, were it not for another of my heroes, Jaya, luring him back to the place where the demon entered him, then stabbing him with a weapon known as the Ghostblade, purging the creature from his body. By the third chapter, his sole weapon was his claws. By the story’s second chapter, the former archer could only wield a one-handed crossbow. I chose the former, and Lanbear started to change, growing horns on his head, his feet turning into hooves. The demon gave Lanbear a choice, let it take control of a small part of him, or risk losing his soul. ![]() Early on in my campaign, Lanbear began suffer from convulsions, and it soon turned out that his body was inhabited by a demon. But this wasn’t what Wildermyth had in store for him. I originally envisioned Lanbear as becoming an Aragorn-type, a master ranger and woodsman. To give an example, I’ll tell you the story of Lanbear, my starting hunter. Venturing into a new area always triggers a story event, each designed to flesh out your characters and shape them in new ways. Between you and that goal are vast regions of mountains, swamps and grassy plains that must be explored and cleared of monsters. You’ll be given a goal to achieve, which varies depending on whether you’re playing a purely procedural campaign, or one of the five bespoke adventures created by Worldwalker games (each of which lasts between five and 15 hours). At this point Wildermyth zooms out, and the village that was once your party’s whole world expands into an entire fantasy realm ripe with mystery and opportunity. These little decisions and the stories that surround them are communicated through evocative comic book-style panels that zip into place with each click of the mouse.īy the introduction’s end, you’ll have a basic grasp of each character’s personality. Yet even at this stage, you’ll make choices that begin to shape these lumps of heroic clay, such as what kind of weapon they like to fight with, whether a pair of characters are friends, lovers or rivals. Initially your characters are fairly faceless, almost literally so, as a consequence of the game’s simple, childlike art-style. However you want to compare it, it’s probably my favourite game of the year.Ī Wildermyth campaign starts in classic fantasy fashion, with a ragtag group young men and women getting their feet wet in the art of heroism by defending their home from attack by monsters. It’s fantasy X-Com, Crusader Kings but for questing. Blending an astonishingly flexible interactive narrative with rich turn-based battles, Wildermyth sees you take a party of youngblood adventurers fighting with pitchforks and pickaxes, then slowly transform them into grizzled heroes and even epoch-spanning legends. Wildermyth is essentially an epic series of fantasy novels that you write as you play. Publisher: Worldwalker Games, WhisperGames ![]() ![]() ![]() For the moment it's in a class by itself. Of course there are other similar tools, Prepros probably being the next best, but none offer the refinement of CodeKit. This thing is a treasure trove of usefulness. It's easily my current favorite app for web development simply because it automates so much without ever feeling bloated. CodeKit performs so many performance-enhancing functions with minimal effort on your part, you can’t help but be more efficient. If you’ve been dragging your feet because you don’t want the hassle of the command-line then you're out of excuses. An Essential ToolĬodeKit is as close to a no-brainer recommendation I have found for anyone who works with front-end code. The most recent update seems to have addressed some of the problems but I suspect there’s a lot more work to be done. I frequently have installation problems and even Brian, CodeKit’s developer, has said it’s been a pain to get it working smoothly (apparently he considered ditching it completely). One area I have had issues with is the Bower component installer. ![]() There are a few of these small nits and while annoying none are deal-breakers. One example is libsass, a screaming fast alternative Sass compiler which at the time of writing was not compatible with the Compass framework, though I believe that has changed.
